David Jusseaume

Jusseaume is a relative newcomer to the glass art scene. In 2001 he started his own business and worked alone out of a small mill space. His studio has been a work in progress since June of 2005. David and his partner erected a steel building in Main over the fall.
David Jusseaume is a blown glass artist who was born and raised in Massachusetts. In 1995 he began working as an apprentice in Providence, Rhode Island. David had always been intrigued by objects created from molten glass, so when he was approached by a fellow rock climber looking for an assistant, he jumped at the chance. David learned and worked in the R.I. studio for six years while traveling to the studio school at the Corning Museum of Glass in New York. He studied under several American and Italian Masters, developing his love for the clean Venetian style of glass blowing. David is fascinated by the elegant goblets and vessels that were coming out of Italy in the early 20th century. This has shaped his style and the skill level he strives for. For David, it is all about the technique. He believes that he should strive for the ability to create an object by hand with the simple tools used for centuries, he doesn’t allow himself to take any short

cuts.

He took on an apprentice two years later and in the summer of 2004 he built a new studio in Massachusetts. David recently began giving lessons and found he really enjoys passing on his knowledge to those as passionate about glass as he is. David continues to push himself in creating unique and elegant glass art while honing his technique to a level that he can be proud of.
